As a baker, or as a foodie, everyone’s favourite go-to dessert for any sort of celebration is obviously some glorious, melt-in-the-mouth cake! But only the baker would know the effort that goes into not only baking the cake right but getting the frosting or icing spot on as well. Frosting is referred to as the soft fluffy cream that comes on top of the cake in various flavours and colours. The icing on the other hand is more of a sugar glaze that hardens upon cooling. Ah…yes, the cream cheese frosting is a combination of butter, icing sugar and cream cheese of course! its softer creamier and tastier too. Try it on your next cake if you already haven’t.

Ganache Frosting

Now, if you are a chocolate lover, then ganache is what you need to taste. Heavy cream is heated, and chocolate is added to it. Once mixed well, the frosting is silky smooth and will definitely appease your chocolate craving palate once spread on your cake.

Whipped Cream Frosting

This is also a popular frosting used on cakes. Heavy cream is whipped till the desired firmness is met and is flavoured with liqueurs, lemon zest, vanilla essence, almond extracts or cocoa. Its creamy, its fatty yet fluffy and takes your taste buds on a roller coaster ride!
